2007 Review
As many predicted, Francis topped the 200-inning mark for the first time in his career. After taking

a one-year dip, Francis's strikeout rate rebounded, and was even better after the break. His walk

rate fell for the second consecutive year--something you love to see from a Colorado pitcher. He's

the unquestioned ace of that staff.

2008 Outlook
Francis is one of those pitchers who is difficult to own if you have a heart condition. His year-end

numbers aren't bad, but along the way, he'll have his super games and he'll have his stinkers, and

not much in between. Last year, Francis gave up two runs or less in 20 of his 34 starts (1.77 ERA).

However, there were seven starts where he gave up six or more runs (12.95 ERA). It wasn't a

product of him being a Colorado pitcher either. His home and road numbers were nearly identical.

As Francis moves into his prime, hopefully he'll learn to avoid those disaster outings and be more

consistent. Upside: 3.8 ERA, 1.28 WHIP.
